I am running a Mac (bought just this summer) with Windows 7 Parallels.
    My Windows specs are:

    63.6 GB memory
    4 GB RAM
    2.5 GH i5 processor
    Running on quad core.

I just bought all 3 Mass Effect games tonight from Amazon. I installed ME1, but when I run the game, the error message comes up 'Mass Effect has stopped working.' I have tried running the game directly from the original folder; same issue. I'm running 1.02, so no patches are necessary. I've searched the internet but have not found this problem duplicated.

    Hi EmilyM & agilburne,

Update Parallels Desktop to the latest build from Parallels Desktop menu=>Check for updates.

Download and install updates if found, and re-install Parallels tools following the steps under "Uninstall, clean up & install Parallels Tools" http://kb.parallels.com/8969

    Thanks,
    Looran

    agilburne,
I discovered/tried a couple of things before I got it working. I don't remember which was the problem so I'll just list all of them:

First, try this: make sure Origin isn't running. Look in your start menu where it shows wifi and other icons; if there is an Origin icon, right-click it and choose 'exit Origin'. Then right-click on the game icon and 'run as administrator' instead of just running it normally.

If this doesn't do it, you may need to update your graphics card. That's another thing I tried. I am running Intel 4000. I had to search for/download the latest drivers.

The last thing I remember trying was that I installed Nvidia PhysX. Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.0725-driver.html

If none of those work, I don't know what to tell you.
