I just purchased Parallels Desktop 9. I am running Windows XP Professional on PD9 on Mavericks (Mac OS X 10.9.1). I wish to share ONLY ONE folder in my Mac Documents folder with the Windows VM. I have played around with all the settings in Virtual Machine->Configure->Options->Sharing. But either I have the option of sharing ALL the folders in Mac Documents folder with Windows "My Documents" or NONE at all. I also chatted with Parallels Tech Support and they couldn't tell me how to do this. I am hoping someone has found a way... Best, ADD
Configure => Options => Sharing => Custom Folders. Add the folder there. You can uncheck everything else.
Thanks Aleksey. I tried that already. But I still see all my Mac Documents folders in the Documents folder of Win7. I have the sense that the Sharing->Customs Folders feature allows me to customize/change the names of Mac folders for Win7 use. The moment I select "Share Mac user folders with Windows" all my Mac Documents folder contents show up in the Win7 Documents folder. See attached screen shot of my Sharing configurations. Thanks for any advice you can give me. Best, ADD
Ahh, I think I misunderstood your question. So let me breakdown the options for you and you can choose the one that works for you. Shared Profile: Share Mac user folders with Windows – This makes your desktop, documents, pictures in windows identically to the ones in your mac. So whatever your mac desktop/documents have it will show the same in windows. You can customize which folders show up by clicking "configure..." right below the share. Deleting a file in OSX will delete the same file in Windows and vice versa. Uncheck this if you want windows to have it's own files and osx to have it's own. Share Folders: Custom Folders... This allows you to map a "network drive" in windows to ANY folder on your mac. For instance, if you share a folder documents and name it documents it will show up under "parallels shared folders" (I believe is the name). There is also a drive under my computer to the corresponding folder. This lets you copy & paste files between the two while still maintaining the separation between windows & osx. Share cloud is pretty self-explanatory and same is smart mount—every drive you connect to your mac will show up as a drive in your windows under my computer. Share windows does the opposite. Your mac will have links/folders that show up that are in your windows.
I'm having a similar problem with sharing except that I can't see any folders at all in either direction. I had to erase my hard drive and reinstall parallels 9 but I can't get parallels to map to my mac. Here's my screeshots: As you can see, nothing is showing up through Windows Explorer. This has never happened in the past so I'm stumped as to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
