I have a Logitech Webcam c910. It works in a mac compatible mode on the Mac. It works when booting within Bootcamp. But when I have Windows 7 64 bit launched as a virtual machine in Parallels 6, I constantly get "This device cannot start (Code 10)".

I initially installed the webcam via Parallels, that did not work. I UNINSTALLED it, then installed it within a Bootcamp boot. Quite a bit more installed (usb controllers, so on), and it worked fine. I went back into Parallels, and still got the "cannot start" error.

Any compatibility issues here? Seems strange that I can boot to windows and it works, but Parallels cannot seem to recognize (or at least start) the device. It is listed as "Logitech - Miscellaneous" in the USB device list; is recognized as a C910 in Device Manager, but of course has the yellow exclamation point in device manager.

    Any help/suggestions appreciated.

I wish to confirm the c910 problem

    hi there

I too have had the same problem with the c910 logitech webcam- i bought the c510 after failing to make the c910 webcam work with parallels it too has the same problem where device manager does not recognise it properly despite loading logitech's drivers - I had a c270 logitech that WORKED FINE !!!! - it seems to be just the c910 and c510 webcams - its a shame because quality CCD webcam options for the mac are so limited - I hope someone can find a fix for this - many thanks

And I see nothing suggesting this has changed at all.

Does no one else use the Logitech HD webcams and find they will not work in Windows under Parallels?

You can get the c910 to work on your mac by creating a Windows partition on your hard drive through Bootcamp. It means that you will have to boot into your Windows partition though.

    From earlier post:
----It works when booting within Bootcamp.------

Thanks Ryan, but given it DOES work in Bootcamp, it raised my point even further that it do+es NOT work at all within Parallels 6, so my question still stands.

Here's how to make thecamera work in P6:
Instead of using the Logitech driver, go to Devices in the start menu and change the driver to the Microsoft Composite Device and it will work just fine!

It works just fine! All of the features in the Logitech software work like a charm including zooming and face following (really weird!)

You can't get any of this on a Mac. but you can get a pretty useless HD feed in Quicktime if you select maximum resolution which is something like 2300x1200.

Oh my! After over 6 hours of trying to get this camera to work for Windows in Parallels, I followed Robsugar's advice and voila! It is working. Just go to device manager, and where you see the Logitech driver with the yellow exclamation point, right click and tell it to use a rollback driver when the driver doesn't work. It works, it works, it works!

    Thanks and a step-by-step summary

Thanks Robsugar and JessicaF, that solution works. Here's a step-by-step summary:

    (1) After installing the Logitech software, instead of using the Logitech driver, go to Start/Control Panel/Device Manager.
    (2) Where you see the Logitech driver with a yellow exclamation point, right-click (or Control-click) and select Update Driver.
    (3) Select Browse my computer for driver software, then Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
    (4) When you get a list, choose Microsoft Composite Device and click next. It will install a compatible driver for the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910.

Similar but simpler fix in Parallels 7

I had the same Code 10 problem in P7 before reading this thread. I fumbled about in Windows 7 until I got to the Driver and just Uninstalled and allowed Windows to re-install automatically and everything seems to work.

Hi I seeker, I have an hd logitec and I'm failing to use it in PD 6, after installing the cd software there's no camera available, tried updating drivers etc, nothing seems to make it work, on the other hand, as soon as I'm back to os maverick the camera works just fine. What a mystery....

Hey Ryansullivan: Shouldn't u be in bootcamp forum buddy? we are talking Parallels here, bootcamp is another story all together. Rather not use a logitec webcam, it would solve our problem....
