I created a Windows 7 machine that works just fine for running Primavera P6. But now I need to access files created with an earlier version of Primavera (SureTrak and/or P3), and need Windows XP for that. Windows 7 Professional lets registered users create virtual XP machines through XP Mode, but I can't do that within a Windows 7 virtual machine. Is there any way I can use the Windows 7 XP Mode files to create a new virtual machine running XP with Parallels? Thanks, Anne
You have to enable nested virtualization, see: http://kb.parallels.com/en/116239 (it's for PDM8 but it's similar in 9).
I don't see that option in my configuration panel. Is that only for Windows 8, or does it apply to Windows 7 as well?
Okay. So back to my original question: can I use the XP Mode that Windows 7 gives me to create a new XP virtual machine? Or do I have to either upgrade to Windows 8 or buy a full version of XP?
I am having the same problem, finding the information from Parallels about this capability is not easy to locate but I finally found it .... http://kb.parallels.com/en/113303 - Not possible to operate a VM within a VM according to this From what I am reading in other forums (including Apple's support forum), this type of set up is possible with VMWare Fusion (V4 or higher)
