Upgrade PD6 on OSX Maverick

Help!! After upgraded 10.9, PD6 is not supported.
I want to buy a upgrade version of PD 9, but it is for PD7 or later version.
Please advise the upgrade path.

i'm afraid the existing image will be lost if run a full install rather than a upgrade.

 

Why would it be lost? Your VM image is separate file from Parallels app. Actually, it may be useful to check with Parallels if the direct VM conversion from PD6 to PD9 is supported. I think so, but have no way to check.

Actually, you should (MUST) make backup of the VM file before ANY upgrade, just in case. I had cases when the VM conversion failed on first attempt (second time went well, go figure...), so having backup of the whole VM file is IMPORTANT (it is LARGE). Then if something goes bad, you can simply copy back the original VM file and try again...

In my experience something goes always bad (hard drive failures are _very_ common, software glitches happen also routinely) so having backup is MUST. Then you are fine in case something goes bad...

I make routine copies of my VMs "just in case" on separate external HD every few weeks.
