I've upgraded to Windows 8.1 and am still running Parallels 8 (already had Start 8 and ModernMix). My issue is with Windows 8.1 apps reopening themselves in the background and stealing focus. For example, I'll be working in OneNote and suddenly the Windows Store app will butt its way to the front. I suspect that this may be related to Windows 8.1's new tombstoning (http://www.wpcentral.com/windows-8-1-apps-dont-want-to-close-tombstoning-new-cool) and/or Windows Store checking for updates, but it happens with other apps too. For example, I opened the built-in PDF viewer and now it wants to pop up too. What makes this doubly aggrevating is that even hard closing the apps doesn't do the trick. When they appear, the apps show up in the Mac dock, and closing them through the dock or with ModernMix or hard dragging them down in Windows as described in the article or ending the task with Windows Task Manager - doesn't seem to matter. The apps will still randomly reappear. Anyone else seeing this or find a fix?
I'm having same issue -- after upgrading to Windows 8.1, the Store randomly opens and takes over screen. (Still using Parallels 8)
I'm having same issue -- after upgrading to Mavericks and Windows 8.1, the Win 8.1 Store randomly opens and takes over screen, especially in coherence mode. Still using Parallels 8.
Same issue. After upgrading to 8.1 and mavericks the store keeps popping up. I've turned off all the auto-update preference except for windows updates and it keeps happening. Anyone know if this is fixed on Parallels 9? It wouldn't surprise me.
So i've found leaving the Windows App Store open in the background prevents it from randomly taking over focus. If I close it, it will randomly reopen and take focus. Once I do that none of the other apps seem to open randomly and take focus.
Hi Everyone, I'm having the same issue after installing Windows 8.1. Does anyone has a solution yet? regards
I have a simple one: when you lose the focus just press alt + f4, the app that is causing this will be killed. If it persists after this then the app/process restarts itself (might be a virus). I didn't find any way to identify it, still researching this part.
Hi All. Please update your Parallels Desktop 8 or Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac to the latest build as suggested at: http://kb.parallels.com/111603 and check how it works.
