Let's say: if I try to open a file from my Mac, I right click on it, go to 'Open With' and then select the Windows program to open it with (Microsoft Excel 2013 for example). What keeps happening is the application looks like it's trying to open because the icon appears for a split second in the dock, but shuts immediately. If I go into My Computer within the virtual Windows 7, it opens fine. I don't get what is stopping me opening a file from one of my Mac folders using a virtual Windows 7 Parallels application.
First best solution: try reinstalling Parallels Tools. Also, what are your Applications options set to in the VM configuration? Steve
Am experiencing this exact same issue on my mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro, with virtual Windows 8 Pro. My file associations worked perfectly with Parallels Desktop 8 (double clicking an .docx file would launch the document inside Word in Windows), but now - as supermessiah describes - the app icon shows up for an instant, then shuts down. Opening the documents up from within the Windows applications works as always. I have already tried reinstalling the Parallels Desktop Tools twice, and no change. HELP!
I'm having the same issue in windows 7 x64, also have windows 8.1 x64 preview - this one works as expected. Application options are the same in both: Share windows apps with mac, Pause when no apps open, Bounce dock icons Web pages; default Email: default Was fine under PD8, since upgrading to PD9 it fails to work for any Win7 application, reinstalling the tools has not helped.
I have same problem after upgrading to PD9. Please, don't keep saying reinstall PD. I tried 3 times!!
