I've tried all the troubleshooting advice I can find. Is this a known issue? It doesn't seem to work with my old Windows 7 VM either. It worked before I upgraded to P9 Any suggestings?
I'm experiencing the same problems with P9 and Windows 7 VM, whereas everything worked fine in P7. It seems to be related to not having a network connection available when resuming the VM, but I'm not sure yet if this is the actual cause. Looking for a solution too! Thanks, Pascal
Yes, there is absolutely no sound after installing P9. Parallels Team? Sup? Are you guys looking into this for us? Sounds like a little patch right around the corner, eh? Thanks. EA
This isn't unique to P9 it's also happening on P8. It started to occur immediately after the 10.8.5 update, which is around the time the OP posted. So far I've tired: rolling back the sound driver - worked until the machine went to sleep reinstalling PTools - worked until the machine went to sleep disabled/enabled the audio device in device manager - worked until the machine went to sleep So the common thread here is that you can get it to work temporarily and then the clicking returns BTW - the clicking occurs whenever a sound event is triggered within windows, i.e new email alert, meeting alert, operation not available alert, etc.
This is probably about the 4th or 5th thread about this now. Look for "clicking", "crackling", etc. It did happen after 10.8.5. It's been suggested by the Mods to reinstall Parallel Tools. Don't bother. It won't work. You'll waste about an hour or more of your life. I thought about upgrading to P9 (using P8 right now), but it looks like P9 also inherited the 10.8.5 click issues. The way I deal with it right now is I toggle the volume up/down keys until the the sound recovers back to normal (about 2 or 3 times, then crackling/clicking goes away). This is one of those, "oh wells" with Parallels. Just like the Back/Forward two finger gesture not working that was never addressed. Btw, my clickings happens on both my Win 8 and Win 7 VM's. Kind of a side note -- if only there's a laptop out there with the same smoothness and gestures like on a Mac's trackpad, I'd jump ship right away. Lol. While I love my iPhone, I am not fully convinced about the Mac OS. Maybe Mavericks will change my mind. I mean, Windows can do quite a lot better job when it comes to heavy lifting. And Outlook for Mac? What a joke, right? Even the worthless tiles of Win 8 is better when in "classic mode". Can't wait for 8.1 either. Here's my conclusion about all this clicking stuff -- wait for Mavericks and Win 8.1. And hopefully, Parallels will support the Back/Forward 2 finger gesture by then. Unfortunately, we'll just have to live with the clickings for now. I will eat crow if Parallels actually fixes it before Mavericks comes out. I wonder what crow tastes like. Will it click and crackle like Parallels?
Thanks for the 'solution' As klugey as it is, this did work for me (I haven't seen any other working solutions). FWIW, my history with this issue: 1) Win 7 + Parallels 8 + OSX Lion ---> No issue 2) Win 7 + Parallels 9 + OSX Lion ---> No issue 3) Win 7 + Parallels 9 + OSX Mavericks ---> ISSUE Definitely hoping Parallels staff will address this in some future release, thanks.
Still with the clicking noise Win 7 Pro 64bit + Parallels 8 + Mavericks 4) Win 7 + Parallels 8 + OSX Mavericks ---> Clicking noise ISSUE too!
