I have just upgraded to version 9 and my screen resolution is so huge making it impossible to access anything so I decided to refresh my PC under settings general. I have tried doing this for three days and all it does is say preparing with the small wheel spinning. It goes the entire day doing this. I click on cancel and try it again with the same results. Does anyone have any ideas? I am about ready to just delete my virtual machine and start from scratch. Rich
I'm not sure I understand your problem. "Screen resolution is so huge": do you mean that everything is so tiny that you can't see anything? And I don't see any option to "refresh" the VM. Best first solution for anything weird is to reinstall Parallels tools. Try that or if you can, provide more info on exactly what is wrong and what you've tried to do to correct it. Steve
Steve, My problem is that when I select Parallels Desktop I am only able to view about 1/4 of my screen and I do not know how to get it back where I can seen the entire screen. The way it is currently I am not able to select any button or click on anything that will get me back to viewing the whole screen. I am not even able to uninstall the Windows key and start over. Any ideas? Rich
I need to explain my situation better. When I launch Parallels I only see a small portion of my screen. So much so, I am not able to see any of my buttons. I have not been able to scroll to have access to any of the buttons. The letters that I do see are gigantic. I am stuck not able to use Parallels at all. I desperately need some advice on what to do. Rich
Do you mean you only see a small portion of the Windows environment? Have you tried the View menu options (Coherence, full screen, or just resizing the Parallels window)? Do these help at all? Steve
Steve, Yes I only see a portion of the screen. When I resize the screen everything remains the same, it just scales larger. Where is Coherence located? Rich
hi rich, you can try reinstalling Parallels Tools first. Click on the Virtual Machine menu then at the bottom click "Install/Reinstall Paralells Tools. Once it is done installing it will ask you to restart your virtual machine and your screen resolution should be better after that.
When I try to reinstall Parellels Tools I only see the top left of the screen. Image attached. I am not sure what to do. I am not able to click yes. Nothing I do causes the screen to move.
When this huge UAC window appears press left arrow once, this will move focus to 'Yes' button. Then hit space bar or enter to press the button.
Your tip worked perfectly. The progress bar appeared, my system restarted, and it worked. Thank you so much. Rich
