I have a Mountain Lion mini server running Windows Server 2003 setup as a Terminal Server under Parallels v7.

Most, but not all, of the clients on the network are Macs that can save to the Lion Server Public share for Macintosh files. When they need to run MS Windows programs, they RDP into the Windows Terminal Server to run Quickbooks, Access, Word, etc which is now currently stored on the file system of the Windows Server.

I would like to merge the two file systems onto the Mountain Lion Server and have everything stored there from the Windows Terminal Server.

Therefore, a user may be accessing with AFP on their Mac computer, or from the Windows Terminal Server running under Parallels.

The problem now is security/permissions for users. I have a Public/SkoogHQ shared folder on my Lion Server that has permissions enabled and working for the mac side. I am able to get my terminal server clients to connect to that folder, but do not see how to set security on the windows side when a windows client creates a folder. E.g. when Bubba creates a /BubbaStuff directory on Windows in the Public/SkoogHQ mac folder, how do I make it so only Bubba can get read/write permission on the folder when he is in windows remote desktop or connected via AFP on his mac?

I believe this can happen via User Name mapping, but cannot find anything related to what I am trying to do. I do not believe I have to worry about any network protocols as Parallels is handling that since Windows Terminal Server is running on the same Mountain Lion Server.

Somebody pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Sure could use some help or direction on this.

Have been researching NIS and Windows Services for Unix and haven't gotten anywhere. Doesn't seem like it should be this hard.

    Bump.....
Since this original post, have upgrade to Parallels v8 but still don't have the fundamental problem solved.

Would appreciated some direction or hints. Been a year with no progress.
