I keep getting the registration popup when I launch Parallels 9.

How do I get rid of it? It's just annoying. Everything else works.

    I tried running in terminal:
defaults read "com.parallels.Parallels Desktop" | grep "Register.Show Welcome Dialog"

    it returns:
    "Register.Show Welcome Dialog.{2ccde3f0-a408-4e2a-a133-ebc891d9ce53}" = 0;

so it seems like it shouldn't keep showing the registration.
I tried to file a support ticket, but I can't do that without a support code, which I can't get without getting the registration to go through.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any workarounds?

Did any of you guys have a problem with initial registration as well? What I mean is I couldn't register during installation process, the key had to be verified through website. Is it by any chance a problem due to localisation? i'm from Poland, guesing by your name Krzystzof you too. Cześć!

I tried to post the solution for this problem but can not see them posted. I will try without any URL. Lukasz it is not a problem with location, I am in Canada and have the same problem (Pozdrawiam Lukasz)

    Solution that worked for me:

    Resolution

In order to resolve the issue, please do the following:
    •Open Finder
•In the menu bar go to Go > Go to Folder...
    •Type in '/etc/' (without quotes)
•Find hosts file, right-click on it > Open with... > TextEdit
    •Remove everything which contains 'parallels.com'
    •Save the file

    Restart your Mac.

Start Parallels Desktop again and register the program one time only. To test it reboot one more time and it should not ask you to register when you start the Parallels program next time. I hope it will work for you.

If you have problems with unlocking host file follow the link below (I did have problem and it help me)

Got it! I had to use:

    Code:
sudo nano /private/etc/hoststo edit the hosts file within Terminal, Control-O to save, then hit the Return key and I was golden and ready to go
