It tells me to make sure my virtual machine is not paused and not running in Safe mode. That I should shut it down and try again. The problem is, it is suspended and will NOT start again because - "Unable to compress the virtual machine disk". I have looked everywhere in the knowledge base and it continues to tell me they have no record of - "Unable to compress the virtual machine disk". Really? Can someone please help me?
Are you using a shrinking disc format for the VM and a format that allows shrinking. For instance OSX drives won't shrink
Possible solution for "Unable to compress the virtual machine disk" I had the exact same issue and was able to resolve the issue. Steps to resolve the issue: Stop the virtual machine from the parallels menu virtual machine->stop now quit parallels and restart the mac then open parallels. It will ask if you would like to reclaim disk space. select cancel and start windows... Hope this helps... Thanks
