    I have Win7 under Parallels 8.
Yesterday Microsoft sent one of those sets of updates, which I tried to install. There was a significant problem with two updates for Office 2007 components. Well once I tracked the problem to those updates, I was puzzled -- I do not have and never have had any installation of Office 2007 on my Macs. (I do have Office Pro 2011 for Mac installed.)

Additionally the updates in question are for Access - a program I have never had.

But when I check add/remove programs I find that Windows says I installed Access on August 14, 2013! Search with Windows search and manually in the normal locations there is not a copy of MSAccess.exe on the VM.

So I guess I have these questions -

#1 Does anybody find that Add/Remove programs lists "Microsoft Office Access database engine 2007 (English)" as installed - particularly folks who have never installed Access or Office 2007?
#2 Any chance Parallels would be the source? (My first version of Parallels was Version 5 and I have upgraded through 6, 7 and currently have 8)
#3 Any other ideas brilliant or dumb ideas - any ideas accepted.

No, really, no way it can be the source.

I am not arguing with you - but I know it is possible to have the program MSAccess.exe installed on a WindowsPC without ever installing MS office. One way is install say PhotoShop and then install some specific PhotoShop Ad-in that uses a database function which happens to use Access.

You certainly know more about Parallels than I do, but I was asking on the outside chance some function or use of Parallels might bring alone a database engine.

If you do not have a listing for the Access engine in your Windows VM under the Add/Remove programs function that would establish there is no need for it in Parallels which is really what I need to know. If there were a need and I deleted something Parallels needed I really don't want to create an issue.

    Thanks

I'm not arguing, I'm emphasising the lack of causation or any relation. No, it's not related, as such, it follows that Parallels doesn't require MS Access AFAIK.
