Hi, I am using a trial version of parallels 8 and I successfully installed win XP. I then installed windows 8 successfully but when I tried to boot up XP I was told that parallels couldn't find the hard disk 1... and then a second error message saying "There is no operating system installed in this VM. please insert an operating system installation CD.... I send a crash report and here is the id #: 28367760 I wasn't able to ask for support since it's a trial version. I have a 2012 iMac running lion thank you Looking forward to evaluating parallels!
Go to your virtual machine configuration and check the Hard Disk 1 settings. Fix those settings by reselecting the disk image. Or remove the hard disk with the [-] button (don't delete the files or move them to the trash), then add a new hard disk (press the [+] button, select "Existing image file", then select the virtual hard disk .hdd file which should be in the virtual machine .pvm folder).
Thank you for your response. I tried your suggestions but unfortunately it didn't work. Here's the exact screen and message if that helps:
well this is weird... I was working in windows 8 and then booted up xp and it worked. I shut down both VMs, restarted parallels and then opened XP on it's own and it worked again... I guess a weird glitch? Thanks again for your help!
You have two VM's. Do they use separate hard drive image files? If they use the same hard drive image, then you can only use one of those virtual machines at a time.
