I am contemplating upgrading to parallels 9, but occasionally use parallels mobile on my ipad to help my mother-in-law with computer issues. I know Mobile has been end-of-lifed, but will my previously purchased app continue to work if I upgrade to parallels 9?
I want to know this too, as Parallels Access cost money and uses more computer resources then Mobile does.
Not in my experience. I've even tried to downgrade back to Parallels 8 and the mobile app still never sees the computer as online. Avoid 9.
Wow, that is bad. Did you reset up the connection for 8? I normally use Direct connection when I connect to my computer, might try that. I just had problems logging onto my 8 over the computers tab, but what I did is ran Parallels Desktop, Preferences, mobile, then logged off and then back on. Then tried again on my iPad and it failed, hit refresh and it worked.
There must be something hidden on the computer preventing it. I know I have to leave PD running, if I close it I cannot connect at all. In v7 I could close down PD and it would still connect, but once I went to 8 I had to remember to run PD before I left the house if I wanted to connect remotely.
I think it may be on Parallel's server side. Once you go Parallels Access, Parallels Mobile just doesn't authenticate properly or something. I had the same issue going for 7 to 8. But it seems as though once you activate the PAccess service on your account, PMobile no longer works.
I have Parallels Desktop 8 and I also have Parallels Access running, I can connect to both. I can even switch between both apps on the iPad and they both work.
