I just updated my parallels to build 5584.

When I start my VM ofcourse the parallels tools will be updated. But after the required restart the menu bar is missing.. The start menu still appear when pressing the command key. It does appear as though the menu bar is present also balloons on the right side appear as though the bar is still present..

    Anyone experienced the same problem?
Or maybe anyone has a solution for me?

I am not quite sure which version I had previously before updating my best guess is a version 2.5 build ???

    I feel stupid :D

First let me correct something.. I was talking about the 'taskbar' and not about a menu bar...

Second the solutions is so simple :$ Just go to the Applications menu and click on show taskbar...
    Ahum ahum... Sorry :D

I am also experiencing problems with the task bar

I installed parallels desktop 3.0 for Mac on my iMac. I then upgraded and installed the build 5584. My guest OS is MS Windows Vista Enterprise. I am a new user of parallels and I am also experiencing problems with the Windows task bar.

These are my symptoms. When I am in single window mode in my VM the Windows task bar (and Start button) shows up, but after moving the mouse inside the window it vanishes. If I switch to coherence the Windows task bar (and Start button) are visible and work fine. If I start in coherence mode the task bar is fine too. The problem seems to occur only when the VM is working in single window.

Can anyone help me with this problems.

    Many thanks

Maybe you have turn on the auto hide function of the taskbar?

My case is just like as yours, and I can show the Taskbar again by turn on the Auto-hide taskbar.

But this will not permanent, since every the VM is restarted, the Taskbar is hidden again.

    Please give me your comment.

I also cannot find my start menu after the most recent update (4 years after this post). My guest OS is Windows XP, and I did find something on the forums that talked about configuring in coherence mode, but the option to open coherence mode is greyed out and I cannot open it. I also just tried opening my programs through the Windows XP applications folder on my Mac bar, but it shows them as opened and I cant see the programs either. The latest update seemed to have messed everything up. PLEASE HELP!
