Can't find install parallels tool, pd8 + windows 98

i installed parallels desktop 8 and windows 98 in it. i want to play some old games.

but i can't find the tap "install parallels tool"

see the picture, any one get one idea?

 

Are tools even still available/supported for Win 98? You might need an older version of Parallels.

According to Parallels tech support the tools are not supported for Windows 98. They tried a manual install and it didn't work.

I have a Windows 98 VM but it has no internet or printer connection and can't upgrade the video beyond basic 640x480.

download this, i enabled 3d support and upped my vram 128mb and it's working okay so far.

 

Thanks. Confirming that worked with Parallels 8 and Windows 98 to improve my video from 640x480x16 colors to 1024x768x256 colors. It shows High Color (16 bit) and True Color (24 bit) available as well, though when I tried 16 bit I just got a black screen after reboot. I had to stop the VM to recover and it came back with 256 colors.

 

sometimes when rebooting or shutting, i'm not sure which one i get black screen and it appears to just sit there and hang/do nothing. i how ever do not have a working Ethernet yet. i downloaded some more stuff and drivers and burned it to a dvd. gonna keep trying at the ethernet casue i have some software that makes 98se internet compatible with flash and firefox.

 

i'm getting a code 12, irq conflict with my Ethernet adapter.

EDIT: fixed it by disabling another device that uses the same IRQ and manually settign the device resources.

my problem know is it does not shut down OR restart properly.

 

I successfully ran a Windows 98 game last night with DirectX6 and 1024x768x16 bit color, and from a cd disk image for instant file loading. No sound though, and the Realtek audio driver posted in another thread did not work - said it was for a newer version of windows when I tried to run it.

Too bad that Parallels tech support doesn't know about drivers that they provided in their own support files a few years ago.

 

i'm running in 24 bit 1024x768.
