My mac crashed with hard disk problems and needed a new HD. So a new instal etc. I had a time machine backup of parallels and my VMs. I restored parallels and got that working. I puled back the pvm files with time machine. One of the Linux ones loaded ok, the other linux machine and my windows 7 machine won't, producing the message: "A file or device required for the operation of Hard Disk 1 does not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine will continue running, but the device will be disconnected." The one that works was created in virtual box and converted to parallels. The other two 1). Windows I created using a win7 install disk 2). A linux VM created from the parallels supplied fedora download. I am not fused about the fedora install, I can delete and re-create if wanted. The windows one is a pain though as I had a load of software installed and will need to reinstall everything, and some of it will be lost. Any ideas how I can get these machines run again?
As an update, I looked into the windows pvm file and found the hdd and mounted it with parallels mounter. I can see my files there so can salvage the data files and other downloaded files anyway.
And as another update, when loading the windows VM it gives the following "There is no operating system installed in this virtual machine. Please insert an operating system installation CD into the optical drive of your Mac and restart the virtual machine.". This was after the one about not connecting to the HD. Looking in the status bar of the VM at the bottom, it shows the HDD as connected, also if I go into VM configure HDD is shown as connected.
