I am using Parallels to run Windows 7 on an iMac 10.8.3. Connected to internet using ethernet cable to router and DSL. It's worked fine until today when I started it. No connection to internet. Won't connect. Says there is no connection to server. I tried every automatic repair offered but nothing. I am writing this using the iMac side and Chrome so obviously I have a connection from the computer to the internet. Why won't windows connect? Just tried again and when I tried Start>Control Panel>Connect to the internet and ran the option got the message "Windows did not detect any networking hardware". How can this be since I am connected on the OS side?

Interestingly, I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when I start Parallels I get a "Parallels Virtual Machines" window that offers two versions of Windows, 7.1 and 7 1. Don't know where that came from but they both have the same lack of connection.

Any suggestions? I'm ready to remove and reload Windows if I have to but don't want to. What is the best way to cleanly do this if it comes to that?

As best I could take those steps it didn't help. In device manager, opening Network adapters doesn't show one, just two Bluetooth devices. Below Network adapters is "Other devices" and opening that shows Ethernet controller and PCI Device, both with yellow "!" indications. I assume these indicate the problem but I don't know what to do about it. I tried "Scan for hardware changes" in both the Computer and Network adapters. Once it said it found something and tried to install it but came back saying there was an error and couldn't do it.

I tried to go through the internet connection setup but it said Windows didn't detect any network hardware. Its there, we know it but Windows can't see it. How come?

It's been several weeks since I used the virtual machine but it connected then. Don't know why it worked then but not now.
