I just installed Parallels for the first time and am very impressed with it so far.

One problem I'm having, is that a hand held bar code reader that I am able to use in Boot Camp, is not working in Parallels.

I have connected other USB devices and I get the option to connect the devices to OS or Windows 7.

This one device is giving me problems. I went back and checked in BootCamp. Under Devices, it is coming up as a keyboard.

Any ideas as how I might be able to get this to work. Hate to say it, but this would be a deal breaker for me as far as using Parallels.

    Hi 760devilfan,

I have just a few questions:

    Have you installed parallels tools?
    If not please do so.

    Also:
From the bottom right, with your vm turned on> when you select the usb device does the scanner show up under the list of usb devices, with a check next to it?

If it is not checked, check it and allow windows to search for the drivers.
If it is checked, have you search for the driver for the device, and installed them manually?

I did have Parallels tools installed, but I didn't know about the menu bar in the bottom right corner. When I clicked on it, I could see that the USB device was connected. I just had to click it and specify Parallels. All is working now.

Thank you very much for the help.

I am very much looking forward to using Parallels moving forward.
