Every time Windows 7 boots, I have to wait 5+ minutes while it installs printer driver updates. I haven't necessarily noticed if this is the same printer every time but today its over a dozen updates for an "HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS". Snapshot here http://min.us/mboydpSuKV
i have to ask you if you use all Mac printers in Windows? If not - you can install some you need using Apple Bonjour and disable printer sync option in Configure --> Hardware --> Print --> Add all Mac printers
Same problem for me! but only after rebooting after using Windows 7 from a hard boot with Bootcamp (no Parallels). It installs "USB Printing Support" and "HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS" three times in succession. I don't have any HP printers though I do have an Epson printer connected via USB. It's definitely a bug and annoying as it takes 5 - 10 minutes to install the drivers and slows down other stuff in Windows. I Will try the sync option. ***Parallels Build 7.0.15098 (Revision 770637; June 13, 2012), Mac OS X 10.7.4, Windows 7 in Bootcamp
it is not a bug - HP driver is a default driver which Parallels uses for all shared printers. It reinstalls cause printers disappear when you boot into Boot Camp and being connected straight to Windows - in a different way it is being connected to VM. You may disable Printer sharing in Configuration --> Hardware _ Printer and install sharing manually
It many be a default but it is dumb! It won't for example let me tell my Canon mp980 to use the rear tray. The Canon driver is needed and works well under parallels so why clutter up the drivers folder with the unnecessary one. There should be an option to not install the Laserjet 2800.
The option is to not to share printers with Windows, this only happens with printer sharing when you to use the same printer at the same time in both sides, as such it creates a new generic printer on Windows that's always the same, the Laserjet, no matter what real model it is.
I have never used the printer on the windows and the Mac side at the same time, yet I still get the constant reloading of the unwanted laserjet driver. I clicked devices in the menu and clicked disconnect all and I still get it.
