When using Parallels 8 with an iMac I understand that you need to allocate it a certain amount of resources in order to run Windows 7. May I ask if Parallels / Windows only uses these resources when a particular Windows program is opened or does it effectively permantly use the resources on start up? The programs I wish to use are very lightweight, namely Decoplanner (Diving Decompression software) and Microsoft Money.
Hi there, You should probably consider starting your Virtual Machine only when you need to use the Windows application or suspend your VM when you don't use it. To suspend your VM you can click on Virtual Machine option at the top Mac menu bar > Suspend
Hi there, Sorry for reopening this thread... I'm thinking about getting an iMac with a 3 TB Fusion Drive. Unfortunately, I got some contradictory answers wether Paralles will be able to work MS software on that hard drive option. Some say, Windows isn't able to cope with those big drives... Do you have any experience/knowledge concerning my case? Thanks for your help! Best regards
It would've been better to open a new thread, your question doesn't have much similarities with the one that started it. * "Windows isn't able to cope with those big drives" : This is false, Windows has no issues with the size of the drives, or drives of that size. * The possible problem is with a specific setup that's related to how the Fusion Drive (SSD+HDD) works (not the size). Which is, when you install Windows in Bootcamp and want to use that Bootcamp installation in Parallels. But I'm sure Parallels devs are working on that issue.
