Hello... I have a client who is running this software (fully licensed version, boxed retail etc.) The issue I was called to was that the software doesn't open, sits and twirls the loading circle and eventually kicks you out with the error 8089 fault. I have been through everything documented to rectify the 8089 error and even done a "full removal" and reinstalled the software. Upon reinstalling, the software opens perfectly and everyone cheers... until you reboot the Mac... then you are back to square one with the 8089 error until you reinstall the software again and it works fine until you reboot the mac etc. etc. I have been an IT engineer and Mac specialist for 15 years, so coming here and asking this question is the last resort... The added bonus to this is that it's a 50 mile round trip to the client, so I could do without a bunch of trips over there to try stuff that doesn't work, so I am really looking for Mr Parallels' own people to respond with a definitive "this will fix our software for you" type answer please... I await a learned response and thanks in advance......
Hi, A few questions for you: Have you reinstalled Parallels Tools? It's not a bad idea to reinstall them. If you have reinstalled Parallels Tools the the next questions are: The Error you are getting is it a Windows Error: if it is please read http://www.registryquick.net/runtime/Fix-Runtime-error-8089-How-to-Fix-Runtime-error-8089-5945.html or http://www.errornumbers.com/error-8089/ If it is a mac error, are you using time machine? Please see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3149008?start=0&tstart=0 (It should not be this one but I had to list it, because mac can produce this error code also.) If it is a Parallels error, is it the error displayed here :http://kb.parallels.com/8089 Also have you put in a support ticket? Because there are several possibilities for the error code. Without seeing the actual error message it may be difficult for someone on the forum to assist you. If you could have your client send you a screen shot of the error message, and then post it to the forum, it might be more helpful.
"If it is a Parallels error, is it the error displayed here :http://kb.parallels.com/8089" This is the error code. I have searched all over this forum and the internet, followed all the instructions, reinstalled everything several times and , as I said in the first post, it works fine until you reboot the Mac, then back to square one... Having worked for a software developer years ago, I know that someone will have had this problem before, so we just need the solution......
Does the solution in Kb article, that is the adequate one for that Parallels error code, work or not? Note: Stating your experience in IT serve little to no purpose, what we need is valuable, meaningful information. From my experience, 'experts' are sometimes the most difficult to give help to if they don't descend from their high horses, because you are basically saying "I've tried everything that could possible be done", so, what can we do? "You did? Then there's nothing we can do for you". It's more helpful, for you, to actually describe what you've done for instance.
As clearly stated in my initial post, the "adequate" fix is inadequate... Reinstalling your software fixes the error until you need to turn your Mac off and when you turn it back on, the error reappears... There are no high horses here, merely frustrated people who cannot believe that the manufacturers don't seem to offer a solution to a problem in their own software...
If you look carefully the article recommends more than just reinstalling. Did you perform the others steps? Did they work or not? And it's not 'our' software, if you read my signature, we are Product Experts, we don't work for Parallels. If you want to contact the manufacturer directly there are other support options available. PS: You still haven't given such basic information like OS X version, this is important because version 6 isn't compatible with Mountain Lion, for instance. Or PDM 6 build version, etc.
