I have attempted to install a trial version of Parallels 8 and am finding that installation is taking over 6 to 8 hours. I ended up having to walk away from the install and allow it to work over night. It almost seemed like a hang and I gave up for a couple of months on it thinking that there was just some bug that would be fixed. Eventually I tried a newer version and allowed it to sit for these many hours and it finally proceeded with installation. I then just recently tried an update for it and unfortunately the installer is again hung, doing the same insane long hang. I believe it is the launch service registration tool that is hanging as `/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister` is the process that is staying at 100% utilization.
