    Hi there,

i updated Parallels 8 a few days ago and since then there's an issue with installing the Parallels Tools in my Windows 8. Evertime i try, the process stops at 59%, rolls back, screen goes black, turns back on and an error message appears which says that there was a problem, i should reboot and try again. No error code or something. The Tools image is mounted correctly, i even reinstalled parallels, but no success. Before the last Parallels update everything worked fine. Anybody with the same issue?

    Thanx

    Also...

Yes, I do have the same issue
And I was askin Parallels Support to assist me - they keep misunderstanding me.
They want me to uninstall and reinstall Parallels Desktop,
then they said I should reinstall my guest OS

Excuse me? I don't want to erase all my Windows apps. I know it will work if I just reinstall Windows over it.
But that's exactly what I DON'T want! Parallels Support, you are bad!

    Solution

So this is what worked for me, i hope it solves your Problem too:

Go to the Settings of your Virtual Machine, choose the Boot-Sequence at the Hardware Option (the Virtual Machine have to be turned off at this point). At the top of this screen you can choose the Boot-Sequence priority and underneth is an emty area (in German it says Boot-Kennzeichen, i don't know the english term). There you paste this in:

    devices.video.pci_device_id=0x5005

Then boot your Machine, install the Parallels Tools, shut your Machine down and delete what you pastet in. Now your Machine should boot normaly with Parallels Tools installed. It took much googling to find this, so please reply if it worked for you too.

    Good Luck!

    Too bad...

    …didn't work.
I actually have some kind of Windows problem.

    This is my install log:
    (See Attachment)

Can anyone tell me where the problem is?
Parallels KB didn't help me so far.

    Sorry..

.. to hear that. Mostly driver issues i think. It looked like a graphical driver problem in my case. It took me kinda weeks to get that solved, finally it wasn't that much of a problem. Really bad that my solution does not work on your machine.

Yes, that's a driver issue somehow.
    But I wonder why?
I imported this Windows 8 machine using Parallels Transporter and before it all worked fine. Just a stable OS.
The only problem is that since it's inside Parallels as a guest machine, it refuses to let drivers install.
