    I have a MacBookPro OS X 10.7.2 with 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i5

    I am using Parallels 7.

When I am over in windows and attempt to open a PDF file it shoots me back over to Apple OS and opens document in photoshop. I do not have Work in windows and do not plan to get it, how can I have it open in preview vs. Photoshop?

SOLVED -- set default programs for windows

I wanted to use Preview in Mac OS (10.8) to open .pdf files that I double click while in Windows 7. Preview was not in the recommended programs. Here is how to make all of your Mac applications show as options.

    1) Right click (in Windows) the file you want to open using a Mac application.

    2) Properties > Change... > Browse...

    3) Type in the address bar at the top of the window that opens:
    "C:\Users\<name_of_your_home_folder>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Parallels Shared Applications"

making sure to substitute the name of your home folder for <name_of_your_home_folder> (mine is simply: "Mark")

    4) Now all of your Mac applications should appear under "Other"....simply select which application you want to use for that file type.

    **NOTE**
You must have your virtual machine configured to share with your Mac for this to work.
