I am looking at buying a Macbook Pro, but have Windows 8 on my current laptop. If I were to get the Mac and then purchase the Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac, how does it migrate Windows 8 from the laptop I have now? Would I need to purchase anything else, such as another Windows 8 license key?

Basically what I want to know is how to get Windows 8 running on a Mac using Parallels. Yes I know there are support pages and such, but I am still struggling to find a clear answer.

    Thanks!

Parallels Transporter creates a copy of your laptop as virtual machine. For more information about migration process please check Import Your Data from a PC section in Parallels Desktop User’s Guide.

I have no information about Windows 8 licensing. You can try to contact Microsoft support.

Thinking about trying the 'Migrate Windows from a PC option' to see how it works in a VM environment etc etc...

I searched the net etc and they use words like move data/migrate a lot instead of 'copy'.

I'm worried as I don't want it to touch/move/delete any data from the PC i want that to stay in tact and just copy the data across not move or delete anything.

Anybody used this feature and con confirm it doesn't move/delete the original data form the PC and it just makes a copy of it?

    Cheers.
