Odd issue: I use the Trados translation tool in Windows. When I start to type in a translation segment, a tilde (~) will often, though not always, appear at the very front of the sentence (if a consonant) or above the letter if a vowel. This behaviour started happening after a parallels upgrade. I am now on Parallels 7.0.15107 running in Mac OS 10.7.5 (Lion) and the behavior is persisting. Does anyone have an answer to this very annoying issue - could there be a keyboard conflict going on? Thanks.
Problem still there This random tilde behaviour persists even though I have upgraded my Trados program to Studio 2011. I have since tried disabling all the keyboard shortcuts (under Parallels Preferences) to no avail. I'm still hoping someone may have an 'aha' moment... No Trados user has come up with an answer either.
Well, I had my own 'aha' moment yesterday: The random appearance of the tilde seems to be connected with my choice of keyboard shortcut for 'Confirm and Move To Next Segment'. At some point last year I must have chosen ctrl+alt+n. This for some odd reason triggers the tilde every now and then (maybe because the Mac uses alt+n for the tilde?). Anyway, having changed the shortcut (back) to ctrl+alt+return, I'm not getting the problem anymore.
