Hi, A couple of days ago I upgraded to 8.0.18305 and my guest Windows XP won't start. Reported on ID 19293283. I reverted back to the previous working 8.0. Today I upgraded to 8.0.18314 and the same problem appeared. My Windows XP won't start. Reported again on ID 19359928. When I click to start the XP, Parallel said starting for a couple of seconds and then it showed stopping. The error reporting came on. Is this a configuration issue. I didn't change my virtual machine configuration before upgrading and trying to start it. Any suggestions? Mel
I'm having precisely the same problem. Support is asking me to start the VM in Safe Mode, but no joy.
Parallel tech support got me to follow these instructions https://www.readability.com/articles/lvhtoxmv The first part didn't do anything for me. I ended up doing the 2nd part. The end result was I ended up with two virtual machines. The newly created virtual machine points to the hdd of the original virtual machine. There is no way to consolidate and combine the two virtual machine. I ended up re-installing everything and moving the data over. I would suggest you log a tech support issue. The solution they gave me may not help you. In fact may create more problems for you. Good luck.
same problem - same (very bad) solution. I had a tech remote in and he left me with the two VMs. Now it also looks like I can't upgrade to Win 8 with this mess. Tech claimed it was because I was a user from several versions back and something had changed in how they set up the VM files. Frankly, if I have to re-install everything I'm sorely tempted to re-install on another product. Call me a formerly happy Parallels user.
Hi Knocker, I tried to find a ticket that was opened with our Support team with the email address you used to register in the forums but did not find one. Have you opened a support request? There has been another build of Parallels Desktop that was released on 12-5-12. Have you run that update? We are happy to help you open a ticket to see why the issue is and how we can try to resolve.
