I use Parallels to connect to a USB electricity monitoring device called "Wattson".

After installing 8.0.18345, the latest update, Windows 7 can no longer connect to the device, and Device Manager shows that the USB serial port cannot start (code 10). Very extensive efforts by me and Wattson support have failed to solve the problem.

However, reinstalling the previous version of Parallels 8.0.18314 restores connectivity with the Wattson.

After reinstalling 8.0.18314, I reinstall Parallels tools, which I assume is the Tools for version 18314, but have no sound driver.

Any ideas about fixing the serial port problem or the sound problem?

    Thanks

I have solved the no sound driver by completely uninstalling Parallels Tools, (from within Windows 7) and reinstalling.

But the broken USB serial port driver with 8.0.18345 remains, though all still working well with version 8.0.18314.

Todays update 8.0.18354 "Resolves an issue with some USB devices not working in virtual machines."

    Thanks Parallels...it works!

Hello guys, sorry for discovering this post so late. For future reference - you can always go back to the previous version - all your downloads are in ~/Library/Parallels/Downloads. you can open folder using Terminal
