Delay in Completing Windows7 StartUp

Upon launching my Windows7 VM, after the windows desktop splash screen shows up, there are a number of windows alert sounds (dull beep sound) that are heard. Six of these beeps about 5 seconds or more apart occur. I can't figure out what error is triggering these beeps. The vm doesn't seem to operate well until after the vm stops beeping. Then all is well and I can continue to open apps, etc. Upon observing the icons at the lower right which indicate status of network/sound/hard drive, all of these icons seem to flash when the alert is heard.

System is a MacbookPro using airport most of the time for network access and occasionally I require ethernet access.
Networks configured are: Default Adapter (Bridged); Shared Network (Shared); Host-Only Network (Host-Only).

To troubleshoot this I've disconnected all network connections & all shared folders. The problem continues to exist.

BTW, this problem/issue has migrated through multiple Parallels versions. Currently running v8
