Thanks for putting this tool out for beta testing. I have been enjoying your Mac beta and look forward to the final release of Workstation.

Anyway, I just tried Compactor on my MacBookPro with Windows XP Pro SP2. The XP guest rebooted midway through the sequence, but then picked up after the reboot. So, it finished its preparation inside the VM and then the Parallels app said that the compacting was in progress. Progress bar got to (about ) 80% and then quit, saying I needed to run the Parallels Image Tool (which isn't available for Mac yet, right?) and defragment to continue.

Oh, well - but there was an odd side effect. All of a sudden, my user account picture changed from the astronaut to the default chess set. When I went to change it back, all of the Windows sample account pictures disappeared...is there some data loss here?

This is understandable. Parallels VM Compactor invoke built-in Parallels Workstation compact feature to finalize compacting. This built-in feature found some allocation errors on your virtual disk image and reported that it can't compact such image.
To finalize compacting of such virtual images you can use Image Tool which has an ability to fix such allocation errors. You can wait for Image Tool for Mac - it will be available very soon or you can use Image Tool from Parallels for Windows or Linux as well.

This issue will be investigated - thanks for reporting!

I too can vouch that my WinXP User Account images are now
completely gone.... I think compactor is a bit too aggresive.....
Perhaps someone can tell us how to get them back??

    Working much better now...

Hi - Well, I wanted to report that I have used the latest beta of Compressor (with a backup copy of the VM mentioned above). It terminated abnormally, suggesting I run Image Tools, which I did with Beta 6 for Mac. Image Tools did its thing successfully, then I ran Compressor and got a successful completion, and about 50% free space on my hard drive, from about 5%...

    Nice job!
