Windows version, configuration with smallest HDD footprint?

    Hi,
I searched for this information, but found no conclusive answer. Please let me know if I could have any chance of using any version on Windows with less than 16 GB HDD dedicated to it. I am running low on my MBP already (39 GB free), and I don't need to really work in the Windows workspace, only to log into a remote service.

Which Windows version, which Parallels configuration could result in the smallest footprint?

    Thanks,

    Laszlo

Actually even if your Windows hard drive shoes you it has 16 BG space - it does not mean your virtual machine is 16 GB size. When you install fresh Windows XP - it i usually 2-4 BG and it can stay the same if you won't transfer or download any files or apps to your C drive in virtual machine.

Thanks, YanaYana. Parallels is smart in that. Let me ask you then: If HDD is not a real concern, how much RAM do usual installs of Windows take up? If I'm lazy and just experiment with the Windows 8 trial linked in in Parallels, how much RAM and HDD would that mean (if only use it for web-browsing)? And XP? Thanks!

Not much - it is enough to assign 1 GB RAM for XP if you just use the web browser - even though not the whole 1GB will be used. You can assign RAM in VM Configure--> General tab
