I have a VM that will not stop. I have taken the steps to quit the the VM suggested by Parallels by going into the Activity Monitor area in Utilities but it still will not stop. Force quitting will not stop it either. When I open the VM up after taking the steps it still tells e that the VM is stopping and will not allow me to do anything else. Can anyone give me a suggestion?
Thanks! Just wanted to say thanks! Running XP via P7 when it all locked up, same as original msg. FQuiting prl_vm in Activity Monitor did the trick - didn;t even need to restart P7! Thanks again!
You are welcome. Anyway this trick means the same to Windows as force quit. I mean please do not use this operation very often - better shy=ut down windows from the start menu if you are able to
Parallels Desktop 8 CONSTANTLY fails to quit. I can shut down Windows 7 just fine from within the VM. But then when I select Quit from the Parallels Desktop menu, it just won't quit. So of course I go into Activity Monitor, select the Parallels Desktop process -- which is almost always red and notes "unresponsive", despite taking up (at this moment) 98.7% CPU, 10 threads and 1.98GB -- and hit Quit. That never works either. Sure, I can Force Quit. But that is just stupid. The process should quit gracefully, not require me to go into Activity Monitor EVERY SINGLE TIME, just to exit the program. Grrrrr.
Try to reinstall Parallels Desktop - download he latest build from Parallels website and run reinstallation.
