One printer, two vms, shared and not shared?

PD7 Mac; Snow Leopard 10.6.8: Can I setup the same printer to "share with Mac" in my Windows 7 vm and also to "not share with Mac" in my XP Pro vm?

I have two printers, an HP Laserjet 3055 MFP and a Canon MP960 color MFP connected my iMac by USB.

Settings: "Add all Mac printers" and "Synchronize default printer" selected in the PD Virtual Machine--Configure--Hardware--Printer window.

"USB Devices" connected to "Computer" in the PD Preferences--USB window.

And "share this printer on the network" selected in the Mac System Preferences--Print & Fax window.

The problem is that both printers work just fine in my Windows 7 vm, but when trying to print in the XP Pro vm the HP 3055 does not print, displays "79 ERROR" and reboots, leaving the failed print job in the queue needing to be deleted before the printer goes back on line.

I have tried all combinations of the above settings and don't want to get involved with Bonjour.

So, I am wondering if it is possible to leave the Win 7 settings set to "share printers" then setting the XP Pro vm to no printer sharing, then adding the printers manually to XP Pro.

Is this possible? And if so, how? The windows printer installer asks for port numbers, etc., etc.

It seems unlikely to get a printer with one USB connection to act as two "different" printers, one shared, the other not shared. But, then, PD7 seems pretty powerful to low-tech me.

I am reluctantly prepared to buy a new printer to replace the HP 3055. Its scan and fax functions are not supported in Lion and Mountain Lion. But it is a terrific machine and built like HP used to build them.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you YanaYana,
Both of my shared printers work fine automatically in the Win 7 vm, as the KB111997 you reference says they should.
But, in the XP Pro vm, the Canon MP960 shared printer works fine while the HP 3055 shared printer does not.
Before giving up and using Bonjour, as you recommend, I would like to find a solution, or at least an understanding, for PD7 not sharing the HP 3055 in the XP Pro vm. Any ideas?
    Thanks again for your help.
