Hi, I have a virtual machine with Linux Mandriva 2008 as guest OS. In the past, using an older version of Parallels Desktop, I had Parallels Tools installed in this virtual machine working just fine. However, after I upgraded to the latest version of Parallels Desktop, when I started the virtual machine I was asked to reinstall Parallels Tools. The process did not work, so I decided to remove Parallels Tools and do a fresh, brand new installation. But now, when I execute the install script, a dialog comes up saying:

"Some components needed for Parallels Tools installation are missing in your system. Do you want to download these components automatically?"

After selecting the Next button, the following error appears:

"Another instance of package manager is already running. Please stop it and restart Parallels Tools installation".

I don't understand what this message means. I have another Linux virtual machine (Red Hat Enterprise 5.0) and the Parallels Tools upgrade was not so painful. Please let me know how could I solve this issue; it's very annoying not to have Parallels Tools installed. Thanks

Ran into the same issue today and no clue why it happened but when I rebooted the guest OS into recovery mode it solved the problem and I was able to install p.tools without a problem
