Not sure if this is just my setup, but I don't seem to be able to type in Windows 7 when running in Coherence Mode. Only seems to be affecting Windows 7 too, I've tested on other OSes I have installed including OS X 10.8, CentOS, Windows XP, Windows 8 and Ubuntu. I have two Windows 7 VMs too and the issue affects both.

    Hello!
Please provide us with some information:
    1) Enable 'Use detailed log messages' in Parallels Desktop Preferences (Advanced tab)
    2) Generate Problem Report and post it's ID here
    3) Run 'Activity Monitor' (located at Applications/Utility), choose 'All Processes' value in combo box and look at the 'prl_event_tap' process in the list of processes. Does it exist?

    Typing in Coherence

I'm having the same issue. Cannot type in a window in coherance. To answer your question above, yes PRL_EVENT_TAP exists as a running process in activity monitor.

    Problem Report ID is 17631659

John, can you enable 'Use detailed log messages' in Parallels Desktop Preferences (Advanced tab) and generate Problem Report again?

    By The Way

BTW - a couple of other things I noticed, which are minor compared to not being able to type:

    1. Dictation doesn't seem to work. You just get a tone from OSX. I'm assuming it thinks that the input window (like an email message) isn't in focus when you try to start dictation.
    2. The integrated trash bin between windows and OSX doesn't seem to work. Do you have to enable this somewhere?

like i said, these are both minor.

The mouse works, but the keyboard does not. The problem only happens under coherence mode.

    Please try this:
    1) Enable 'Use Crystal mode' option in Vm configuration (Vm configuration->Options->Coherence). You should see red || icon in system menu after this.
    2) Switch to any Mac OS application
    3) Switch to Win application.
    4) Try to type...
    ?

confirm these steps work as well.

However I'm hoping you guys 'fix' this issue rather than have this be the way things work from now on. Having crystal mode gives us a 'start' button in the dock, I for one use it quite extensively during my 8+ hour workday. it's kind of silly not to be able to type in a window because an option isn't selected, something like that should be default behavior.

    another issue

In Coherence under Windows 8. If you have something like file explorer open and close it, the icon will remain on the dock.. You can even right-click it and try to quit it. It will remain until you exit coherence and toggle back to it.

Also Alt-Tab doesn't seem to work very reliably.

Bizarrely this problem hasn't occurred today, Coherence mode is working fine in Windows 7. I've not changed anything, the only difference since yesterday is I've restarted my Mac. Not sure if that solves the problem for anyone else?

Yes, rebooting your Mac should help in this situation but problem will occure later with high probability. We are working on reliable solution.

    rebooting

Can confirm that seems to work also (rebooting).

New problem. If you have the virtual machines list open, but in the background on the desktop and click on the start menu button in Windows 7, the machine list will come to the foreground. Sorry guys. :(
