I have been using Parallels since ver3. I had Ver 6 on MB Pro, purchased Retna with 10.8, tried to use Migration Assistant to move everything. When complete said Parallels 6 does not work with 10.8, thus did not transfer. Can I upgrade Ver 6 to 7, then somehow manually move all required files to new Retna, without starting over with Migration Assistant (took 7+ hours)? Is it possible, what files to move??? TIA

All you have to move is the .pvm file, which is in the Parallels folder in your Documents folder, by default.

Then just create a new VM on the new machine pointing to the .pvm.

    What about the Win XP

    Steve,
Thanks for the reply. I am not a real expert with Parallels, will that contain my Win XP install and stuff? Again I am not sure of the details of creating a new VM.

    Thanks again, TIA

File menu -> New -> Add existing virtual machine

Then just point to the .pvm you copy over.

    What about Parallels Move

How do I move the Parallels to the new Retna machine? I did the Parallels 7 update OK on the old MB Pro.

    Thanks again.

    Bob,

    Sorry for a late response,

It was not necessary to create new VM - just move PVM file to new Mac and double click it.
