Is there a way to manually edit the boot settings on a Windows 7 install? What I mean specifically is that I need to change wether the machine boots in safe mode or not, even though I am unable to log into the virtual machine. Any help is appreciated.
In order to boot into the say mode you need to press F8 key while booting Windows. You need to click inside the VM window first so that the VM grabs your mouse. I usually click both the mouse inside the VM and F8 several times during the boot in order to achieve it.
I appreciate your response. The problem I'm dealing with is this: the machine automatically reboots itself after only a couple of seconds of displaying the login screen, invariably, every time. I thought the issue was the machine attempting to boot in safe mode, because it started the last time I tried to boot in safe mode. I used f8 to get to the menu you referred to and choose "start windows normally", but as it turns out, this did not solve the problem. I chose a disk repair option from the f8 menu, which eventually returned a message about being unsuccessful and asking me to send an error report. I then checked the "diagnostic and repair details" report, which all seemed okay except for this at the end: Root cause found: ----------------------- Unspecified changes to system configuration might have caused the problem. Repair action: System Restore Result: Failed. Error code = 0x1f Time taken = 40344 ms Repair action: System files integrity check and repair Result: Failed. Error code 0x490 Time taken: 211031 ms Any help would be awesome. Thanks, -R.
Seems like your Windows installation is corrupted. I have found one thread on Microsoft Forum http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...nd-0x490/2de97db2-34fd-4c1e-af7c-63a9aaa4124d Please keep in mind you have a virtual machine ,not an actual PC
