Hello! I have installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp on my Macbook. It is possible to install Windows 7 via Parallels as a virtual machine and using this Bootcamp-partition. My question: Is such a virtual machine slower than a virtual machine, which is installed without using the Bootcamp-partition?? Kind regards! Chris from Austria
You ca use your Boot Camp as a virtual machine - no need to install additional Windows. It is not slower but has few limitations. Please refer to Kb: http://kb.parallels.com/en/112941
Thank you! And what is the advantage using the Bootcamp partition? There are only limitations. I can't see any advantages.
You only have to install Windows once and you don't have to reboot to get into Windows. I used PD with Boot Camp for a long time, but I realized I rarely, if ever, booted into Windows, and I wanted to be able to suspend the VM. So next time I installed PD, I did a virtual disk instead of BC. Steve
The advantage is if you already have Windows installed in Boot Camp - you can use it. And if you sometimes boot into Boot Camp natively - all the changes and data will be saved there either you work under Parallels or Not
