    Hi guys,

I've used the parallels trial offer and decided its not for me, just wondering how I can access the files I saved to the guest pc now that the trial has expired? (I can't start the machine because of the expiry message but I really need to retrieve some text files saved to the desktop).

Any help is most appreciated! Thanks,

    Rob

You should have thought of that before the trial expired!

You can try using the VMWare Fusion trial to try to import it and retrieve your files.

so there's no way to directly access the stuff on my guest? Seems odd, since it has to be stored somewhere on the hard drive?

I didn't realize it may become an issue if i decided not to buy

If this is not a Bootcamp based VM (most likely): It is stored in a .pvm package (/Users/username/Documents/Parallels/), there's a file there with the extension .hdd, it's your virtual hd, the problem is that there's no direct way to access it by the OS, this is a proprietary format that might or not be supported by other vm apps, VMWare Fusion supports it, hence my suggestion.

If it is Bootcamp based, just boot your mac into Windows.

I totally agree with Specimen.. Now you have only one solution.. this solution is what Specimen said...

this happened with me once.. and I had to use VMWare Fusion to retrieve my files...
