I have a Mac that has an existing partition that runs windows via boot camp, and I use Parallels. I've just maxed out the memory on my Mac. Went from 2GB to 4GB. When I go to configure the amount of memory allocated to the VM on Parallels to give it more, a warning comes up saying that the OS installed on the system has a max memory of 1GB. If I allocate more than that amount it may cause both my Mac and Windows partition to slow down...

Do I have to reinstall the Windows OS to allocate more memory to the Windows partition????

First, are these 4GB being recognized by OSX? If you press 'About this Mac' does it appear as having 4GB RAM?

No, it isn't recognizing it. Still says 2GB. Is there a way to make that happen?

If the memory was correctly installed, and if it's the right kind of memory module for your mac you don't have to do anything, the memory gets recognized, if it isn't getting recognized then you have a a problem with the memory module(s) you just installed.

Be sure to check the memory module(s) specs and your mac specs.

Huh. It was professionally installed. I'll have to look into it. Thanks.
