    Please help!
My Parallels installation worked perfectly in Coherence for over 6 months. Suddenly, I cannot get my VM to capture any input from my keyboard or mouse (Mac IS X 10.6.8 with Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac build 6.0.12106).
When starting my VM there is a message that Parallels cannot go into Coherence, and that I must change Smart Mouse configuration to On or Auto. I have done so with the VM off, with both options and still no capture. I can release with Ctrl+Alt though.
I have also read that I may remove and reinstall Parallels Tools, but for this I need to use my mouse to get to the Add/Remove Applications. So no can do.
I have read many threads and it seems that this is quite a common problem, but cannot find a solution. What does "check your PM" mean afterall?

Please help! I do not wish to start over the installation of the entire Parallels + VM...

    Thousand thanks, JM

First of all - you can remove and reinstall PTools using keyboard.
Than - you can reinstall PTools from Virtual Machine top menu -> Reinstall Parallels Tools
And one else - but Smart Mouse on Auto.

Thank you YanaYana. I tried to use keyboard to remove PTools, but nothing works:
    1. To access Start Menue, I tried Ctrl+Alt/Option, Ctrl+Cmd, Ctrl+Alt/Opt+Cmd, Fn+Ctrl+Alt/Option,... nothing
    2. Released input with Ctrl+Alt/Option and used 'View Start Menu' from Parallels Menu,... nothing
    3. From bottom right list of Devices, click on Keyboard, and select Ctrl+Alt+Break, Ctrl+Alt+Del,... no response
Would you please walk me through 'use keyboard to remove PTools'?
    Many thanks, JM

    Hello,
I finally resolved the issue with the much efficient help of Help > Request Support > Support via Skype. The support technicien walked through installing TeamViewer which allowed him to remotely manage my computer. At the end, he identified that my keyboard/mouse drivers were corrupted, and the only solution was to create a new Virtual Machine and reinstall the Guest OS (Windows XP)... which as you can imagine, is a lenghthy process.
The technicien had a quicker idea: to restore my last working Virtual Machine from my Mac's Time Machine. However, I had disabled 'Time Machine [CHECKED] Do not backup Virtual Machine' in the Configuration so I did not have any backup! Lesson learned.
Thank you and good evening! JM

    Hi,

I'm glad your issue has been resolved.

And per the keyboard troubleshooting: it is more about Microsoft keyboard shortcuts. You can use this kb for more info http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126449
