I tried to install the PD7 for many times. Every time the "install" function automatically leaded to "uninstall" function and then failed.

My iMac is brand new (top geared, 2 hard drives) and with no PD ever, OS X 10.7.3.

    Can anyone help me?

You can choose the language from the drop down menu in the first link of my signature.

I'm having the exact same problem after reinstalling my OS with Lion. I have never installed Parallels on the new OS before and I keep getting the uninstall screen coming up immediately upon launching the installer. The uninstaller will fail and I can't proceed! This happens for both Parallels Desktop 6 & 7 of the latest built. I even tried a KB (http://kb.parallels.com/en/112189) suggestion on manually fixing it but it ain't working. Anyone got any ideas?

As Specimen has already said - download new image. You may have faulty PD dmg image

Thanks Yana for the tip. Tried downloading it several times and it did not work either. Just to make sure I was not getting a cached copy of the file, I downloaded from different computers and it was still the same. This also happens for both PD6 and PD7. I can quite possibly rule out a damage DMG file

This sounds strange, i would suggest you to repair disk permissions - open Disk Utility and click Repair Disk Permissions

Hi I got serious problems with this Parallels Desktop 7 on Lion as well. The behaviour is as described above.
I have checked and repaired my disk permissions but without success.

At any time when I want to install parallels it comes back with the deinstall process which failed and then nothing happened. The parallel symbole remains in the dock forever but nothing happened. What is wrong.
All I can say is that I have updated my system to lion and nothing more is installed.

    Anybody know what to do?

    oh dear,

I did everything even what has been mentioned there.

Looking to the different directories nothing is seen which is something like parallels.
It is a virgin Lion updated iMAC.

What happened is that after trying to install the deinstall is started automatically
    which finishes with the following:
Failed to deinstall parallels because no parallels installed.

Again I tried to install Parallels without having installed windows using bootcamp.

Another hint could be: I tried to install Parallel from my original cd using the install script and here
    I saw the message:

Last login: Mon Apr 16 17:54:20 on ttys001
    Andreas-Krauses-iMac:~ Andreas$ /Volumes/Parallels\ Desktop\ 7/Install.app/Contents/MacOS/Parallels\ Installer ; exit;
Can not create the /Library/Preferences/Parallels directory.
Can not create the /Library/Preferences/Parallels directory.

Maybe this could help. It seem to occur right after starting install.

    try these steps:

    1. Open the latest build .dmg file using Disk Utility and then click on Install option/ button
    2. Install on Continue if the Installer Package opens this time.

If the issue persists follow the one mentioned below.

    1. Double click on .dmg file and right click on "Install" option/ button
    2. Click on Show package contents => Go to MacOS folder => Double click on "Parallels Installer"
    3. Install on Continue if the Installer Package opens this time.

    Problem solved on my side

    Hi,

thanks for your comment but in the meantime I have reinstalled lion again and then it worked.

It seems that something happened to the access rights for the directory I mentioned in my previous thread.

    Now it worked.
