This just happened today, for no apparent reason. If Parallels is running, my HP Laserjet P1005 goes offline in the Mac OS. The printer is still detected in Windows XP VM, but print jobs get held in the Mac queue, and the status shows the printer is offline. If I quit parallels, the printer goes back online, and the queue releases. This is odd behaviour, and quite annoying, as the XP iteration is shared among other users on the network. Thanks, T
Check in Parallels Desktop menu > Preferences > USB > find your printer and make it always connected to Mac

Has a fix been discovered for this issue? I have the same problem with printing on the Mac side when Parallels is running, but as soon as I quit Parallels, I can print. I have Macbook Pro OS X Lion 10.7.5, Parallels 8 & a HP office jet 4500 G510n
