Upgrade to win7 (virtual) from XP (boot camp)

    I have Win XP installed as a boot camp partition, accessed through Parallels. I want to create a virtual (non boot-camp) Win7 installation with a Win7 upgrade DVD. However, when Win7 is being installed through Parallels, it doesn't see XP on boot camp. So the installer won't let me install Win7 because it can't find Win XP.

    Any thoughts?

    Import the bootcamp partition to Parallels and the upgrade it.
