Icons display ellipsis (...) and not full name of Folder/File

I have an issue here where the desktop icons in Windows 7 display as "FolderNa..." or "FileN..." where the last part of the name of the item is getting cut off.

I have tried messing with various settings and started reading up on Registry Settings and I'm wondering if this is strictly a Windows 7 issue or if there is anything Parallels related on this one.

Does anyone happen to know if this is strictly a "Icon Spacing (Horizontal)" setting or is there more to it than this?

This is NOT an issue, it's not related to Parallels in any way, it's simply a graphical user interface design choice in Windows where files and folders with names larger than an x number of characters won't display their full name because of lack of available visual space.
OS X has a similar built-in 'restriction' in icon view, and so does in list view (albeit larger).

Maybe there's a setting for controlling this limit, but no one who likes to keep their sanity would mess with this.

perhaps someone can post back if you they know where this setting is in windows as I cannot read the name of the icons which obviously makes things difficult. i've not found this very well organized in the windows settings and it would be good to know if this is only affected by Icon Horizontal or if anyone knows if there are any other setting for this (it appears there is an on/off "wrap" setting in the Registry).

i'm finding desktop display of icons in Parallels to be generally not very good so if anyone knows of a way to get rid of the Mac desktop items from the Windows desktop, I would be interested in knowing how to do this as well.

tried fences but there is simply too much organization that i have to do to keep these straight on my two os's on two machines.

grateful for any good info on this or related topics that would be of help.

You're obviously using the desktop the way it wasn't meant to be used, the sane way of doing file management (and the way it was meant to be) is to create folders in your Documents folder (this applies for any Operating System) and put your files there, the Desktop area is the WORST place possible for placing files (unless temporarily, for two reasons, limited (visual) space, and program windows get put in front of it, blocking the view and access.

But this is my opinion (of someone who studied GUI ergonomics), I'll leave to others to help you pursue your objectives.

Try holding Control-Shift and do a two-finger trackpad up or down to increase/decrease the icon size, and hence the displayed icon text.
