Does anyone know if Parallels 4 will run under Lion? I have a 3 year old iMac that is still running Leopard (not even snow leopard) and P4, I'm looking to upgrade to Lion. Thanks!
I have Parallels 4 and just installed Lion. And I can't seem to get Parallels to run. First i get "Unable to load the Parallels Driver. Restart your Mac and try again." [which doesn't do anything] Then I get "Unable to start the virtual machine. An unexpected error occurred while starting the virtual machine. Contact the Parallels support team for assistance."
No, it won't. See this knowledgebase article: http://kb.parallels.com/en/111578 IMPORTANT INFORMATION Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac and Parallels Desktop 4 for Mac do not support the new Mac OS X Lion and will not run if Lion is installed. Older versions of the Parallels Desktop software were not included in our testing efforts. These versions will not run on the new Mac OS X Lion. Parallels Desktop versions 4 and 5 were designed, tested and released to the public several years before the new Mac operating system became available. Parallels Desktop versions 4 and 5 will not be updated to support Mac OS X Lion. Parallels Desktop for Mac versions 4 and 5 users can upgrade to Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac which does support the new Mac OS X Lion. Visit the Parallels Online Store to purchase Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac. NOTE: Parallels stopped support and maintenance for Parallels Desktop 4 with release of Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac. Customers who still use Parallels Desktop 4 would need to purchase Parallels Desktop 7 full version. Please refer to the the following article for more information: http://kb.parallels.com/111886 What are my options if I've already upgraded to Lion? If you are Parallels Desktop 4 or 5 user and you have already upgraded your Mac OS X to Lion, you still can upgrade your Parallels Desktop to version 7 and continue working with your virtual machines.
