I wish to take Parallels up on their offer to upgrade to version 7, but I read that Digital River employes web beacons. I am familiar with cookies and I know how to delete them, but I am new to the concept of web beacons. Are they installed on my computer like cookies are? If so, can they be deleted? By what means? Overly cautious? Maybe. Please help edjumacate me about this. Thank you.

You are not being just overly cautious about this, you are crossing a frontier where you are making it impossible for you to operate on the internet. If you are worried about being tracked install Adblock for Safari or Chrome, or Adblock Plus for Firefox and select the EasyList and EasyPrivacy lists.
Thank you for this link. Not knowing web beacon = web bug, I didn't find this page before I posted. Well, gosh, Mr. Specimen... Fear? I never felt any fear. As ignorant as I may sound to you, I do help many friends and family members with their computer issues, and have for years. I preach caution to all of them, and I employ it myself. Fear is not part of it. Obviously I still have things to learn. That is why I posted, not because of fear. And while not trying to be contrary, I am actually not crossing a frontier into not being able to operate on the internet. I'm merely asking for information, in the same way that I am often asked for information, and I give it with a smile, and without condescension. Thank you for this as well.
