I just got parallels 7 for mac installed on my mac today and there is absolutely no sound at all!! The sound icon has a red X next to it. I've tried everything to get it to work but nothing has resolved the problem. Has anyone else had this problem before and if so, what did you do? Thanks!

First the more info you give us the easier it is to help give you possible solutions. If you just go to a doctor and say my body hurts it's going to take him a long time to find out what it is and how to fix it. Same here.

Tell us about your computer and your installation. For example :

    I have a 2011 13" Mac Air 124GB with 4GB RAM.

    I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74) and Parallels 7 for Mac - Build 7.0.15052 (Revision 710728; November 11, 2011)

After that tell us how you installed your Parallels and what are you using with it as a VM (Windows XP, 7 home, 7 Pro, Linux, etx)

Did you enable the sound in Parallels? Which sound icon, in Mac or Parallels?

Go to : Devices> Sound > Enable Sound in the Parallels menu on the top of the page and make sure it's clicked as enabled.

Go to Virtual Machine > Configure > Hardware > Sound > and see if it is clicked as Connected and Default, Default.

How about in Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound ? Does it have the Speakers with a green check mark?

It basically says no audio device is installed.

Then you have to install it. Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Add a Device. It should find it and click on it.

After it should be under Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > Sound Video Game Controllers > Parallels Audio Controller

Have you tried everything mentioned in this thread already? I ask so we can look for other options if you've already covered everything mentioned here.
